Why Traditional Diets Fail Every Time
If you’re anything like me, you’ve no doubt tried pretty much every diet out there but with little or no success. Why is it that so many diets fail? Many individuals believe the myth that eating tiny amounts of food will bring about weight loss. The truth is that when we cut down on the food we eat we could actually gain weight instead of losing it. Our bodies are designed to view restricted food intake with starvation. By reducing the quantity of food we eat we send our body into starvation preservation mode.
All the weight loss studies show that normal weight and healthy people usually eat foods that contain plenty of complex carbohydrates (like vegetables, cereals etc) and most people who are overweight usually have diets that are high in fat. Being able to interpret what these studies tell us about which factors contribute to weight loss is crucial when creating a weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight fast is to follow a low GI diet where you are careful about how many carbs you take in in a day, but don’t worry too much about the other foods. You should however make sure you don’t overeat, by keeping your portion sizes down, and ensuring you get a good balance of healthy and nutritious foods which are also low in saturated fats.
Chances are there are habits that contributed to the weight gain and the weight gradually crept up over time rather than overnight. Because it took a long time to gain the weight, it will also take time to lose weight in a healthy fashion. People who haven’t figured out the balance between watching what you eat, getting lots of water, physical exercises and making sure they get enough sleep are the next customers to those pushing the new fad diet, weight loss pill or quick weight loss plan. You can find these fad diets, pills and programs in every media including TV, radio, magazines, books, and the Internet. Because most individuals today have been programmed to want everything now, it’s much easier to think (or even believe) that a magic does exist that can burn off fat virtually overnight, than to believe that we have the ability to re-structure our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight and unhealthy is in the dim and distant past.
Most diets simply don’t work because they do not teach a healthy balance within your body. Diets are doomed to failure because some are designed around making someone or some company wealthy instead of making a weight loss product or system that will sincerely assist a person to lose weight.
It’s well known that individuals who are overweight are more likely to succumb to diseases and other life shortening health problems due to excessive body weight. Saturated fat consumption is a major contributor to surplus body fat.
For too many years people have been instructed that they need to cut down on food or rigorously count calories to be able to burn off excess fat. The truth is that our bodies are more than able to manage weight assuming that we give our bodies what is needed it needs to stay healthy – like getting enough sleep, plenty of water, eat healthy and nutritious foods, and regular exercise.
Getting rid of those extra pounds is not just about counting calories, you should also not overeat. Proper portions of wholesome foods are crucial to losing weight. It’s also important that you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies like to be physically active!
