Taking care of your teeth and your smile is the best health and self confidence investment you can make. Many assumptions are made about a person based on the condition of the teeth, to include overall health and socioeconomic status. So how do you find a quality dentist, such as an Ann Arbor Dentist to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy and representative of who you are? There are three main places to start your search for a quality dentist.

1. WORD OF MOUTH: No matter where you live, there will always be a name or two of a favorite dentist(s) that will surface amongst those with whom you interact. Getting recommendations and referrals from other people is an excellent way to find dentists who have demonstrated their competence and compassion. Conversely, if you listen carefully, you will also hear the names of the worst dentists in town, ones to avoid. You’ll see that most people will be happy to tell you about the bad dental experiences they’ve had.

2. OBSERVATION & QUESTIONING: It is almost impossible to avoid seeing other people’s smile or lack of a smile if you are able to get out around town. When you are going about your day, observe. Look at other people’s teeth when they are speaking or smiling. If you need specific dentistry services such as orthodontics, do not hesitate to ask a person wearing braces about their dentist. Most times, he or she will be happy to share their experience. If you see someone with a great smile, and clean healthy looking teeth and gums, then compliment them on their Cosmetic Dentistry, they might also share their dentist’s information, even for cosmetic dentistry services done.

3. AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION (ADA): Lastly, the ADA, a professional organization for the dental industry, offers information on their site (www.ada.org) to help you find a dentist in your area. You can select dentists from different areas of practice to include cosmetic dentistry, general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and oral/maxillofacial surgical dentists. You’ll also find extensive dental resources and information.

Using the Internet, you should be able to find other sources for locating a quality dentist. Your smile is important. It is worth the time to make sure your find a dentist who listents to you, is qualified and someone you feel comfortable with.
