Knowing The Cause Of Panic Attacks
Do you know the cause of panic attacks?
Well panic attacks are caused out of nowhere. So that is why we ask what is the cause of panic attacks? One moment you’re fine, the next you’re shaking and crying. Hence, many patients fail to realize that panic attacks are result of nowhere. At first, the attack is result of a certain stimulus. It could be anything including a particular place, smell or person. Anyways for lowering down the panic attacks; it is must to prevent their causes.
The particular triggers or cause of panic attacks can be either internal or external. Internal triggers includes the panic attacks like memories, feelings, certain thoughts, and physical sensations e.g. headaches. Whereas external causes of panic attacks are a cause of sudden changes in lighting, temperature, or sound level, strange smells or sounds, and certain places.
However why should a certain smell or taste cause a panic attack? Think of a person with a peanut allergy. Peanuts do not harm the body of a human being in anyway; also it does react to a person’s immune system. However to a person having an allergy with peanut reacts to peanut in a deadly way. In the same way, a person having sensitive nervous system or inheritance to peanuts reacts with the peanut consumption in a panic way.
How does it all happen? Let us say for an instance your trigger is a texture of linen. You are travelling, and you spend the night at a motel. You get into the bed having linen sheets. For some reasons, you start sweating. You definitely do not want to have another panic attack. And, your anxiety builds up when the attack turns full-fledged.
STAYING AWAY FROM TRIGGERS AND THINGS THAT CAUSE PANIC ATTACKS:
Ideally, you need to avoid triggers. If you are not exposed to your triggers, you won’t have panic attacks. With the linen example, you can substitute other fabrics for linen. And, if you are allergic to sensitive lights then stop moving to dance clubs. Some little changes can make your upcoming life safe and secure.
OVERCOME YOUR TRIGGERS:
There are times when you wish to avoid panic attacks or its other causes, but they are just unavoidable. Like it is difficult to avoid the smell of cigarettes as it’s not in our control to stop someone’s smoking habit. And, thus few patients continuously try to accustom themselves for knowing their sensitivity towards the stimulus by repeating its exposure.
I know that you may be curious in doing so and after all who wouldn’t be? Nobody wants to have a panic attack on purpose. However, getting used to your triggers will reduce the frequency of your panic attacks in the long run. For example, people with phobias frequently expose themselves to the source of their fear. Although initially they are terrified, they gradually begin to lose their irrational fear.
It is imperative that before confronting and taking on the cause of panic attacks, that you always seek the advice of a doctor or a psychiatrist. They have some long or short run triggers and exercise that helps you to fight with your triggers. If you are a heart patient, then it is not worth for you.
For the best way, it is always advisable to increase the exposure gradually. Just don’t take tension, if you even fail to fight with the cause of panic attacks.. It’s fine because everything takes time to work.
