Autistic Children Benefit From Chiropractic Treatment In Orange County
How would I start to convey the happiness I have found knowing our chiropractor, Dr. Candice McCowin, DC?
I’m a full-time, stay-at-home mom of three children, all under the age of 7 – our daughter, followed by two sons. My two sons were diagnosed to be autistic two years ago. Costa Mesa Chiropractic
Both of our boys have very specific issues that we must deal with on a daily basis, including delay in learning to speak, lack of facial expressions, and walking on tip-toes. Then, our concern with our youngest boy, Toby suddenly had risen. It soon became apparent that, while both boys would benefit from chiropractic care, Toby needed extra attention. He recently went through a spell recently where he was unable to communicate. On top of that, he has several sensory issues. My husband and I began to fear that we were losing touch with him.
We sought advice from another couple in our parent group who had the same experience. They were the ones who sent us to Great Life Chiropractic in Costa Mesa, California.
Toby improved from being nonverbal to making “signing vocabulary” of around 12 words and he can now sleep through the night. Since many autistic children do not sleep through the night, we consider this as a major coup.
We were encouraged by Dr. McCowin to look at making dietary changes along with the weekly chiropractic treatments. Our bookshelves are now filled with gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free cookbooks. We have studied nutritional supplements extensively and, with the doctor’s advice, have implemented them not only in Toby’s diet, but in the diets of our entire family, with positive results.
Our efforts indeed paid off. She informed us that she had seen progressive results and asked us of the changes that had happened at home and what we have been doing differently. In fact, she pulled out a folder and showed us Toby’s recent class work in comparison to the work he was completing prior to beginning treatments.
