Real Weight Loss and Low Calorie Diets Don't Mix

If you are considering using one of the many low calorie diets out there to lose weight, then you should think again.

On the face of it a low calorie diet seems to make sense. The main reason that you have excessive weight is that you have too many tored calories. It seems obvious that weight loss can be achieved by reducing calories.

The problem here is that your body is basically a survival organism. The main goal for your body, is to survive. If your body is used to eating a certain amount of calories and if you then go ahead and drastically cut back on calories, your body will react by slowing down your ability to burn calories. It will do this because the message it is recieving, is not that you are trying to lose weight, but that you are in the process of starving, and your body will react by hanging on to calories, it won't care that you are trying to lose them.

This is why so many people who go on low calorie diets, find that they lose some weight at the start, and then the weight loss stops after a few weeks. They assume that the diet has stopped working, and stop following it. The realisation that the diet does not work is the correct realisation, but for different reasons to what you think. A diet that is low in calories can only work for a very short time, and any weight that may have been lost, will come back.

Doing it in this way is a drain on your effort and time, and it also leaves you with a belief that weight loss is not possible for you. Each attempt at weight loss will be approached in a deep seated belief that you will fail, because that is what you have always done.

If real weight loss is your goal, then you will need to stop listening to all the hype about low calorie diets. If you have been successful with these kind of diets, you wouldn't be looking for information here. There are real methods that allow you to lose weight for good. Having a long trm plan involving exercise and diet is the real key. The thing is to slow things down a little. Simply put, using sensible methods and sensible time frames will allow you not to only succeed in losing weight, but it will it will allow you to keep the weight off for good.

This may sound strange but successful weight loss is about choice. You can keep doing the same things and continue getting the same results. If you want to get different results, then it makes sense to say that you will have to do something different. Low calorie diets are more a hinderance than a help.
