I’ll be blunt, panic attacks suck. Good thing there are several natural ways of treating anxiety to resolve and eliminate panic and anxiety attacks without dangerous prescription drugs.

Breath Exercises — Many traditional cultures have used the breath as a way to center one’s self and stay calm and grounded. Meditation and Yoga are perfect examples. Controlling your breath will relax the body and soothe the mind. The root physical symptom of a panic attack can be found in the breath. Quick breathing is usually the first symptom that will spark a strong panic attack. Slow your breathing and you will find that you can avoid most panic attacks.

Herbs and Herbal Teas — Prescription drugs can help, but they come with a whole host of side effects. Herbal remedies can often help with panic attacks without the side effects. These can consist of valerian, passion flower, chamomile, California poppy, kava kava, or lemon balm. I can be challenging to estimate the right dose. People are different and it may take some time to find the right dose for you.

Homeopathy — Homeopathic remedies are diluted quantities of herbs that can be useful in treating panic attacks. Bach Flower Remedies are created from a mix of flowers. The Rescue Remedy is used by many to soothe panic and anxiety. Also be on the lookout for “Kali Phos 6x” which is formulated to treat the nervous system. Particularly when it is stressed by panic and anxiety.

Alternative Therapies — Have you considered acupuncture? It can help align the body’s energy, or chi. If the thought of becoming a human pin cushion doesn’t appeal to you try the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). You can get the same benefits as acupuncture, but without the needles. It is fast and you can do it in the comfort of you own home.

Because each of us is different some of the above listed remedies for panic attacks may work better for you than others.
