Is Sole A Good Elliptical Trainer Manufacturer?
Warranty clause forms one of the few very important aspects of buying an elliptical trainer. Warranty is a good measure of the quality and hence the durability of the machine.
There is a relative new player in the elliptical trainer industry, Sole Fitness. They are defining their niche by offering one of the most extensive warranties available at any price range. It provides a cover of 5years on parts and electronics and 2 years on labor, excluding the E25.
But, what’s so great about warranty when considering the purchase of fitness equipment? .First, it reduces your liability if the machine breaks down. It’s very expensive to go for the services of a professional for replacing costly parts. Further, the quality of a machine is determined to a large extent by the warranty. And Sole Fitness is backed up 100%.
Try to understand that warranty in effect is a simple economic calculation. It’s very simple to understand that a manufacturer of an elliptical trainer just can’t afford to offer a generous warranty if it were not too sure of its design and quality of materials used for manufacturing the same. On the other hand, if the machine is of questionable quality, it would be cost prohibitive to support it with a lengthy warranty. The company would go broke with service costs.
Could you imagine the reasons for offering just 90 days of warranty by the producers of cheaper elliptical trainers?. This is because the producers are not confident if the machine would last longer than that.
Beyond their warranty coverage, Sole Fitness is building some excellent elliptical trainers. In a recent test I very impressed with the smooth elliptical motion, and how quiet it was, even when I cranked up the resistance. Another feature I liked about it was the 20” stride it had to offer. Most ellipticals are built with a 16”-18” stride. Though smaller stride may suffice the purpose, one gets a feeling of being constrained and the elliptical motion tends to be a bit bouncy. The longer stride is certainly needed for taller people measuring about six feet or above but even those with average height will remain comfortable with a stride of 20 inches. Not to mention short stride of Proform workout equipment.
It would be worthwhile to add here that Hilton chain continues to patronize these elliptical trainer as a part of their in-room fitness system. Having been proven in a commercial environment, this is a statement on the durability of their machines. You are assured of getting the same quality in their elliptical trainers.
