Alkaline Diet Foods a Guide to Healthy Eating
There are so many diets on the market today it can be discouraging to try and find the right one. The bottom line about any diet is that it should be healthy. The goal of a diet is usually to lose weight, but with many diets that weight loss can come with a price of your health. You cannot trade your health for a thin waist. Instead of chasing fad diets and denying yourself the foods your body needs to function, look at a list of Alkaline diet foods and give the alkaline diet a try.
The alkaline diet focuses mainly on the intake of alkaline diet foods. These foods are all healthy and good for you. You will not find any unusual foods on the list or be denied foods that are necessary for your body. With the alkaline diet, the focus is on balancing the body’s natural pH balance by eating both alkaline and acidic foods in moderation.
This diet is based on the fact that most of us have a very unbalanced pH level in the body. An imbalance causes a person to get sick more often, builds up waste in the body and can cause weight gain. An imbalance can even be related to illnesses like diabetes and cancer.
Alkaline diet foods are broken into two groups. You will need to have a list of alkaline foods and acidic foods to see the difference between the two groups. Acidic foods include sugar, dairy, meat and pasta. Acidic foods also include processed foods and saturated fats. Alkaline foods include vegetables, certain nuts, herbs and healthy oils. The Alkaline diet is arranged so that your intake of foods is 80% alkaline foods and 20% acidic foods on a daily basis.
This 80/20 balance will help restore the natural pH level in the body. You will feel an increase in energy levels, lose weight (if you are overweight) and build up your immune system. You will not feel deprived on this diet either because you will be able to eat satisfying foods that are good for both your mind and body.
Here are some great tips to help you succeed with the alkaline diet:
- Drink plenty of water. This may be something you have heard time and time again, but that is because it is essential to achieve optimum weight and health. The right sort of water is amazing for your body. Avoid sugary drinks and sip water (the higher pH the better) instead. The bonus is that when following the alkaline diet, if you are overweight, water will boost your weight loss and speed up results.
- Skip foods that contain preservatives or additives. Preservatives and additives hold no nutritional value and can actually be harmful to your body. When you look at the list of alkaline foods you will notice that they are all natural foods.
- Be prepared. One of the best ways to succeed with the alkaline diet is to have alkaline diet foods available at all times. You can cut up vegetables and then have them ready to eat from the fridge. This will make snack choices simple because all you have to do then is take them out of the fridge and eat them.
Losing weight and getting healthy should go hand in hand. You should never compromise. Alkaline diet foods are good foods. They are the healthy foods that encourage your body to function properly. When you start this diet you will not feel deprived, you will feel amazing and better than you ever have before. That is because the alkaline diet works with your body and not against it.
